Support Ministries
Adult Serve: OPC has a very gifted “body of Christ”, who have the heart for service, and assisting those in need. The Adult Serve ministry plans and promotes various projects throughout the year to best utilize the gifts and talents of its membership. We have a heart to share the love of Christ through our actions in helping those who are in need.
Caregivers: Every member of OPC is in a district which is overseen by an Elder, Deacon and a Caregiver. The Caregiver ministry is one of encouragement and support by providing meals and assistance to families in need.
Car Ministry: This ministry assists individuals or families to attain personal and/or financial self-sufficiency by providing basic transportation primarily for employment reasons. This is a great ministry for many members to use their gifts and time for needy families. Vehicle Donations Needed! – Please team with us in this important work! Click Here For More Information.
Coffee & Comfort: A support group to help mothers through the grief process of losing a child. Mothers of all ages are welcome to attend. The group meets on the 4th Wednesday of the month at 1:00pm in the church Music Room.
Crossroad Bible Institute: This is a ministry that ministers directly to prisoners. OPC currently has 30 volunteers who receive a Bible lesson completed by an individual in prison. The volunteers spend about an hour a week checking answers and writing a letter of encouragement to the inmate. This is a great ministry for people who like to work from home and have a passion to help others grow spiritually.
Family Outreach Team: A group of compassionate adults work with chemically addicted persons/and or families. We believe that alcoholism and drug dependence is a fatal illness which, if untreated, will result in insanity or death by accident or physical deterioration. Our Family Outreach Team is a group of caring individuals who voluntarily work with chemically addicted persons and/or their families to try to stop the progression of the illness and direct them toward the path of recovery. We strive to follow our Lord’s example by showing love and concern to those in need. Meetings are by appointment.
Home Repair: This ministry is sponsored by the Orland Park Deacons. Their vision is to provide our church family and community with professional home repairs. This ministry is backed by professional contractors and volunteers who will donate a portion of labor, materials or both for those who are in need of repairs, but can’t afford to pay full price. Our program targets small to medium sized jobs and repairs. For larger projects, referrals are made to trusted contractors who provide quality work at a reasonable price.
Oasis: Orland Area Sight Impaired Support is one of three support groups provided by the nonprofit Christian Organization OASIS for the Visually Impaired. At these support group sessions, people come to discuss issues, problems, and concerns in dealing and coping with their visual impairment situation. OASIS also conducts rehabilitation workshops, shares vision-related resources, and provides one-on-one peer and inspirational support. OASIS central belief is “we live by Faith and not by sight.” (II Corinthians 5:7) We offer three different support sessions. The first, OASIS VisAbles meets the first Friday of each month from 6:30-8:30pm. This group offers support for career-aged adults who are visible in the community as employees, volunteers, or active parents. The second, OASIS First Steps meets on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month from 12:30-2:30pm. This group provides support and rehabilitation to those individuals who are newly visually impaired and have not received any rehabilitation. The third, OASIS Orland VIPs meets on the first and third Thursdays of each month from 12:30-2:30pm.
